(8-6-08) Dearest friends,
I don’t look a day over a hundred and don’t act a day over 10, but last week I passed the ¾ century mark. Thanks to Jeanne for letting you know and for your responses. I’m asking God for 50 more productive years in order to accomplish his purpose in my lifetime during and after this “chapter” closes.
It is my sincere hope, and prayer twice daily, that God is blessing your lives richly. Someday when God’s promise is revealed to us we will “know even as also we are known” however, if you are anything like me, at this time we have many more questions than we have answers for. It has been over 6 years now since I monitored my computers to make sure your checks were going out on schedule.
During the pass 6 years my love and appreciation for you and the other deserving persons who purchased Telecom 2000 businesses has only deepened. We have truly been tried in the “Fiery Furnace”. Through it all my faith in ya’ll has never wavered and my faith and prayers to God have remained constant.
Understandably you have responsibilities in life and must attend to them daily therefore it is to be expected that many of you have remained in communication with me only in your thoughts, prayers and faith. I long to be able to meet with you soon, share your thoughts and the events in your life. I have never been one who “EVER” gives up when his faith and logic clearly indicates he should press forward and I continue to, as Paul said, “press towards the prize of the high calling of God that is in Christ Jesus”.
I am humbled that a man of great stature has taken the initiative to obtain a President Pardon for me during these final days of President Bush’s presidency, a time period when pardons are increasingly given.
The man I speak of is Tom Hegadorn, one of our former Telecom2000 business owners. His story is of heroic proportions. Five years ago, his wife Caroline, suffered 3 strokes. She hasn’t spoken a word since. For the past 5 years, Tom has devoted his life 24/7 to taking care of her every need. Until recently, Tom was unable to even answer the phone because Carolyn requires 24 hour attention. To compound those problems, Tom is 80 years old and has recently suffered strokes. He has no feeling in his right side. For example, to type he watches his right hand, feels nothing, but directs his muscles to type. It is inconceivable that a man in Tom’s condition and position could retain a zest for living and have monumental goals and aspirations. I feel so humbled and honored that this great man feels compelled to seek a Presidential Pardon for me, a mere prisoner of injustice who can offer him nothing but gratitude and prayers at this time. What an inspiration!
Our faithful friend, Jeanne Bivins, is working daily with Tom to leave no stone unturned and giving all of us an opportunity to do WHATEVER we can to ensure that Tom’s sacrificial efforts do achieve their objective, that is a pardon for me, and a victory for justice in our tragic situation.
Pray our petition will be successful when President Bush receives our hundreds of petitions. I would love to hear from you and read your thoughts.
